Private Hand Surgery in Houston, TX

The hands are the most essential and frequently injured parts of the body. Our specialists provide expert care for fractures, dislocations, open wounds, tendon injuries, nerve lacerations, and tissue loss to restore function and mobility.

At OccuHealth Surgery Center, we provide private, same-day access to specialized hand surgery services in Houston, TX. Our team treats a wide range of injuries with precision and efficiency, helping you return to normal function as quickly as possible.

Whether you’ve suffered a hand injury related to sports, work, or an accident, we’re here to support your recovery with focused surgical care and follow-up treatment.

Types of hand injuries we treat:

Finger fractures often occur from direct trauma, such as jamming your hand or falling onto an outstretched arm. Finger injuries can result in not only damage to the bones but also damage to the ligaments. Symptoms include swelling, bruising, pain with movement, and a visibly crooked finger. In some cases, the skin may break or a bone may protrude.

At OccuHealth Surgery Center, finger fractures are treated with accurate realignment and stabilization to restore bone alignment and finger function. Our ability to provide prompt surgical intervention reduces the risk of stiffness, arthritis, and long-term hand dysfunction.

A dislocated finger occurs when the bones in a joint are forced out of their normal position. This commonly occurs from sports injuries or forceful impacts. You may notice immediate pain, swelling, deformity, and inability to move the finger.

If you believe your finger is dislocated, we are here to provide you with the care you need today. Our team will thoroughly evaluate your finger and conduct any necessary testing to provide a diagnosis. If you require surgery, we will then develop the best possible treatment plan. Early intervention helps protect joint mobility and supports proper tendon healing.

Mallet finger is a common tendon injury caused by a sudden force to the tip of the finger. It is referred to as “baseball” finger because it often happens when a person catches a baseball with their bare hand.

When the tip of your finger is hit forcefully, it can stretch or tear the extensor tendon, causing the fingertip to droop. It may be painful, swollen, and difficult to extend the finger on your own.

The need type of surgery performed will depend mainly on the severity of the injury and whether the tendon is accompanied by a bone fragment. Our goal with surgery is to restore the strength and motion of the fingertip.

Deep cuts to the hand can damage not only skin but also underlying tendons, nerves, and blood vessels. These injuries may result in bleeding, numbness, loss of motion, or visible tendon damage.

Our team of highly skilled surgeons provides meticulous wound care and repair of all affected structures. We have no wait times, which allows us to provide timely closure and precise suturing, helping reduce the risk of infection, promote healing, and restore normal hand function.

Hand fractures involve breaks in the bones of the palm (metacarpals) or smaller finger bones (phalanges). These injuries may result from falls, crush injuries, or high-impact trauma. Symptoms include swelling, bruising, deformity, and reduced grip strength.

If you suspect you have a hand fracture, our team is here to provide you with prompt and effective care. We use imaging to assess fracture patterns and determine the most effective approach. When fractures are complex or unstable, surgical procedures are performed to restore alignment and function. Our goal is to ensure proper healing and prevent long-term stiffness or misalignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, at OccuHealth, we specialize in the treatment of acute trauma orthopedic injuries. As a result, patients are welcome to schedule an appointment directly at our Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic without the need for a referral.

For your first consultation, please bring the following items:

  • Your driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
  • Radiology images (e.g., MRI, CT scans) on a disk from the facility where your tests were completed, along with the corresponding reports or readings.
  • Your insurance card or employer contact information.

We provide 24-hour access to a point of contact for any concerns you may have. You will be given the necessary contact details following your treatment.

Non-surgical treatment options may include rest, medications (such as analgesics and antibiotics), injections, and physical or occupational therapy. Your doctor will discuss the most appropriate options based on your specific condition.

It is normal to experience some bleeding following surgery. Keep your bandage clean and dry, and DO NOT remove it until instructed by our surgeon or until your follow-up visit. You may also experience numbness and tingling in your fingers or hand as the anesthesia wears off (especially with local anesthesia or blocks).
For pain management, medication is most effective when taken before severe pain sets in, so it’s important not to wait until the pain becomes intense to take it.

Achieving full range of motion, strength, and flexibility after surgery typically takes time. Pre-operative exercise, education, and post-operative physical therapy programs are key to ensuring you’re fully prepared for surgery and to maximize your recovery afterward.

If you experience unexpected symptoms, such as increased pain, swelling, or signs of infection, contact our office immediately. We are available to offer guidance or address any concerns to ensure a smooth recovery process.
